Trinidad by way of the Philippines

A great travel writer I know, who bribes me with lavish compliments and exotic food, has redesigned his highly acclaimed and entertaining travel web site.

The first conversation I had with Erik Trinidad was about his near-death experience from altitude sickness up on Mount Everest, where he was saved by two Sherpas and yak, a British couple, a New Zealander, Canadian and British doctors, steroids and a $4,000 helicopter ride.

Back in the dot bomb, Erik actually did what everyone talked about.

After getting laid off, he vowed to travel the world until the money ran out, which is exactly what he did when he made the global trip. He’s been published a million times since then, and is in April’s National Geographic Traveler magazine, representing New York City in the “City Shorts” section.

If it sounds like I’m a biased fan, I honestly am. Erik’s my hero and I want to be just like him, except with different subject matter and fewer car rides. He’s got travel covered.
