Someone Else Said It Better Than I
Last week Evany described in a thoughtful and descriptive meme what I have only grumbled about and alluded to when she posted “how I learned to stop worrying and love the blog”.
It comes perfectly timed with an email from my friend at Random House, about a new book they’ve got coming out.
Naughty Needles from Potter Craft is about knitting bondage material and lingerie. I’ve not yet had the book in hand, but just the idea of it is going to get me into that again (the knitting). It also gets me pondering such things as tensile strength, stretching, chafing, and the possible incorporation of other materials such as silk or leather. These things may sound technical but really, they lend themselves to rather pleasant musings.
I’m eager to see what the crafts are like, and how the “practical matters” might be addressed. I love the hybrid image made by a woman (or man!) so poised… face calm, hands busy… domestic at a glance, dominatrix in practice. Absolute endearing charm once the goodies are made and put to good use.
A pink knit bikini already top lives in my underwear drawer, looks like it’s time to add to the drawer… and the box under my bed.
