mint jelly

But of Course

I finally found my passport in between Zane Grey and The Handmaid’s Tale on my bookshelf after days spent sifting through drawers turned into busting up the joint. I had a vague memory of hiding it among books but canít believe I was psychotic enough to slip it in between books of similar color and height.

praise ra on a cloudy day, i have found it.

later...

OH wow freerunners are freaking cool. I just saw a stupid commerical in the background and noticed the disclaimer (i have this thing, i love the disclaimers like “animated driver on animated course. do not attempt” derr). this one said “professional freerunners”. What’s a freerunner? the internet knows.

such a cool reason to have health insurance

It looks FUN. It looks rediculously hard. It looks like you’d get arrested trying to do it in the U.S. I wanna try…

  1. I suppose you could try it Mi - being a white girl, it’ll probably work for ya. A black kid in Brooklyn got shot for WALKING across a roof a couple of months ago - he was going to get a cd in his apartment - was shot by a rent-a-cop.  Another sport for the pale folks.

  2. that’s terrible, uuuuugh! but why am i not surprised? i will never understand. there’s nothing to understand. UUUUUUUUGH

  3. this does look cool, mia.

I’ve always wanted to be able to do this

Posted by calvo  on  05/27  at  01:54 PM

  4. if anybody can do it, you can. heheh i’m really good at falling and rolling but i would get back up and keep going. i think that’s all that matters, right? graaaacefully

mostly this is the face i’d make ;o

Posted by mia  on  05/27  at  02:36 PM

  5. such confidence from you!  thanks!

I’m sure it just takes practice.

at this stage, I can’t even muster enough of my own confidence to arch backward from standing to go down into a backbend (wheel pose, in yoga).

on the other hand, on a good day, I can pull this off.

    :)

Posted by calvo  on  05/27  at  03:33 PM

  6. that’s the opposite of me. for some reason i’m afraid of what’s in the picture - fear of breaking my neck or something, but i do that arch backwards every day, just bwoop - no thought.

rrrrr ok back to work for me. you can do cool stuff, dude.

Posted by mia  on  05/27  at  04:42 PM

  7. I know...neat, huh?

    :)

  8. Nike did an ad a couple of years ago featuring guys that did that.  I think it might of been filmed in France...or maybe was a French director.  Can’t remember, but it looked amazing.

  9. Girl, where you at?

  10. i’m here, i’m alive!

i was sick for a good number of days end of last week, beginning of this one with fever, bad headaches, and stuff but i’m find now. Didn’t leave the house for 3.5 days.

i know i’ve kept some radio silence but since getting better i’ve been in project mode and looking into freelance. didn’t leave the house for 2.5 days .... i’m becoming a part-time recluse it seems.

i realize i missed your bday! Happy sweet 27 Miss Megs :)

Posted by mia  on  06/03  at  06:28 PM

  11. Wow, I also made no sense in that first paragraph.

    p.s.
do not go to web md when you have fever, headache, dizzyness, nausea, lack of appetite and ache down your spine. it means you’re going to die after having siezures and brain damage. you could type in “sniffles” and it would say you’re going to bleed from your ears, have seizures, die and be eaten by cats that came in through the fire escape and your name befouled by tell-all unauthorized biographies.

in other news, my grandfather’s not doing well and i tried to “comically” distract my mother by telling her about a new piercing (nowhere near reproductive anythings) and only managed to upset and worry her about infections and such.

    ahh crap.

and i really need a proper desk being on the computer this much. i am keeping the nails trimmed though.

  12. Poor kid. I’m sorry you were so sick. :[

  13. thanks so much, you are a sweet one.

  14. Awwww....foot in mouth.  I hope you feel better soon, Miss Mia.  I just missed your posting.

Posted by Megan  on  06/03  at  09:40 PM

  15. no way, it’s nice to be missed, thanks for wondering about me, it was kind of a nice surprise.

Posted by mia  on  06/03  at  09:44 PM

  16. *ears perk up*

    a new peircing, where?

    :)

Posted by calvo  on  06/04  at  09:15 AM

  17. the tragus - pointy little part of the ear. just one side so far because you can’t answer the phone or sleep on that side while it heals. doesn’t show with my hair down but it’s getting longer and i put it up a lot now.

:) you’re such a guy. it’s nothing interesting like well, words i’m not going use to falsely increase my traffic.

Posted by mia  on  06/04  at  10:35 AM

  18. it was the vagueness of the statement that piqued my interest.

...don’t even try to tell me that wasn’t intentional.

    ;P

Posted by calvo  on  06/04  at  10:40 AM

  19. i did say it wasn’t near anything reproductive! and while i know i’d never do anything facial i guess you don’t know that for sure.

man, the guy who did it is awesome but also does *shudder to think* ritual scarification and such. i had lots of time to look at pictures. really amazing what people think of to do to themselves. it should be a whole new flavor of psychological study.

before there were navel rings, i read “The Dispossessed” by Ursula K. LeGuin. The upper class women had magnets under their skin at the dip at the base of the throat and in the navel where they could place jewels. Also, remember Tim Curry and Mia Sara in Legend - when she’s evil for a while - she had black jewels there? Inspirations for a young mind.

i thought “i really want something there. and then culture caught up.

maria’s had her tragus pierced for years and I always thought it was really pretty. i broke down and copied her now that she’s moving across the pond and i won’t get busted on it as often. *sniff sniff* she’s moving so far!!! move back to new york when you’re done, maria!

  20. awwwww

    look what maria made

i’m so happy for those crazy kids

  21. I kinda like the idea of the magnet to stick decoration to...cool.

they do metal skin implants now, I bet you could find someone to implant magnets....start a new/old trend.

It’s been so long, I’m not sure I remember that mia sara turned evil in legend.

Posted by calvo  on  06/04  at  11:27 AM

  22. oh!  also...I think I know who ubiquitious man is now.  I’ve seen a guy up and down 18th street who sort of matches the description you gave.

not sure that I’ve ever seen him before, though...leastways, I’d never noticed him.

Posted by calvo  on  06/04  at  11:30 AM

  23. i know they do, but i don’t know if it would migrate or what. hmm

cool you might have seen ubiquitous man.... was he carrying a newspaper or in a rumbled linen suit? thick dark hair. shuffles when he walks.

i have heard he’s the antichrist (mihow and toby) and the heir to the washington post fortune (kurt)

Posted by mia  on  06/04  at  11:34 AM

  24. I dunno about the “antichrist” thing.

toby also spotted the great pumpkin one night at the black cat so, I’m just sayin’...

    ;)

  25. I had my tragus piercing for a year and it never healed properly, be gentle with it :)

Mia, we’re in the same boat.  In the last month I’ve had two allergic reactions and a UTI!  On the bright side, I’ve located my neighborhood DC hospital.
